The Centre has approved the reappointment of Shri Tushar Mehta as the Solicitor General of India with effect from 01 July, 2020. The tenure of the term is three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Further, the Centre has also approved the re-appointment of existing five Additional Solicitors General of India (“ ASGs”) in the Supreme Court effective from July 01, 2020.
These ASGs are :
- Vikramjit Banerjee,
- Aman Lekhi
- Madhavi Godaria Divan
- KM Nataraj and
- Sanjay Jain
The tenure of their term is three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Additionally, Anil C. Singh and Satya Pal Jain have been reappointed as Additional Solicitor General of India for the Bombay High Court and Punjab & Haryana High Court respectively with effect from 1st July, 2020. The tenure of their term is three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has further appointed Senior Advocates Balbir Singh, Suryaprakash V. Raju, Rupinder Singh Suri, N. Venkataraman, Jayant K. Sud and Aishwarya Bhati as Additional Solicitor General of India for Supreme Court. The tenure of their term is three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Furthermore, five Senior Advocates have been appointed as Additional Solicitor General of India for High Courts. These include Senior Advocate Yezdezard Jehangir Dastoor for Calcutta High Court, Senior Advocate Chetan Sharma for Delhi High Court, Senior Advocate R. Sankarnarayanan for Madras High Court and Senior Advocate Dr. Krishna Nandan Singh for Patna. The tenure of their term is three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
